Dondon Haoumwm (Dowmung Truku) is a multidisciplinary artist and spiritual practitioner. Working in media including video, sound, installation, and performance art, Dondon's art practice combines cultural transmission and innovation as Dondon explores the continuity and change of Gaya (natural law) in modern society. In this talk at GIM, Dondon will talk about "The Light and Sound of Hagay." Hagay is a Truku word that refers to gender fluidity. In Dondon's recent performance work "Hagay Dreaming," Dondon creates from legend, lasers, and songs a kind of Indigenous futurism. What message might the light and sound of Hagay have for us and our research? Come to the third of this semester's Talks with Indigenous Musicking and Dance to find out!
